Flawless. That is how we want people to see us. Perfect, clean, ready for an inspection at any point. That is what we constantly see on Pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook posts. It’s always the best angles, the right outfit, the best color combination to make a room feel warm and inviting. Perfection.

If you can hear me loud and clear, then hear this also: we don’t have to be perfect. When I truly soak up the beauty in imperfection, I find myself actually able to breath and enjoy moments. I can see the precious people that gather in my living room on Sunday night rather than the dirt that my dog just trampled all over the place. I can bask in the presence of my sweet husband rather than become overly anxious that the dishes have piled up, the laundry has sat in the washing machine for several days…yuck…and that my dog has not really been played with for who knows how long!

God has created us to enjoy moments. The Bible tells us that there is a time for everything under heaven. ***Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 In each moment we have the ability to experience so much; from people around us to the peace and presence of God. If we truly believe in the Jesus Christ of the Bible, then we can experience His peace in the time of weeping and laughing, the time of birth and death, in the time of love and hate. God is not limited by our season of life.

The beauty of imperfection is that you don’t have to live up to impossible standards, but instead you can step back and let Jesus cover your sin and smash the standard. Your mindset can completely be changed when you let the standard be Jesus rather than this world.

Jesus loves you where you are at; this world tells you to be better. Personally, I long to please the one who cuts me some slack. It’s an expression of gratitude. He tells us that His mercy is new every morning.

“Because of the Lord’s faithful love

We do not perish,

For His mercies never end.

They are new every morning;

Great is Your faithfulness!

I say,’ The Lord is my portion,

Therefore I will put my hope in Him.’”

Lamentations 3:22-24

HOW REFRESHING!! He knows we are human, and it doesn’t hold Him back from relentlessly pursuit and faithfully goodness.

I know we are still going to face the desire to live the perfect life Let’s face it, the love of God doesn’t clean the kitchen, or give us more hours in the day. My husband, Cody, is a youth pastor and we are starting a family. I understand crazy! On top of that I am a clean/organization freak! But letting the Lord be the standard does change our hearts and how we handle the moments in our lives. We praise the Lord of dirty dishes, because it means we are not struggling with hunger that faces so many other families. We praise God for the amazing clothes Has blessed us with…at bargain prices provided by LoRita’s Open Door, a Care Net Boutique…I’m sorry. Distractions!!

Simply remember to allow the Lord to go before you, rest in His mercies, and enjoy the moments (without posting them). Sometimes God lets you experience a moment that’s not meant for everyone else.

Peace be with you,
